If you have yellow teeth, then do something to fix it! White teeth are quite easy to get nowadays. There are at least 3 main ways you can take to achieve nice white teeth. From simple teeth whitening kits to in house treatment, it has gone a long way in terms of efficiency and safety. Though some of the cost to do it was reduced, some newer methods still cost a lot to do.
First are the over the counter whitening kits. They are cheap and easy to use. Anyone can buy those kits without needing to show the pharmacist a prescription for it. The main point of being cheap makes this the first step most people would take to whiten their teeth. Although they have less concentrated bleaching gel, you could still see some result after you used it for a few weeks.
Second is a more professional whitening kit that requires you to visit the dentist to do. The dentist first shapes a mold out of your jaw. From there he will send the mold to another mouth guard manufacturer so they can make a mouth guard that has the perfect fit for you. After the dentist receives the mouth guard from the manufacturer, he will pass it to you along with a more concentrated bleaching gel.
The last method would be in house treatments. There you would get treated in the clinic instead of at home. The process is more complicated than professional whitening kit and the result you see would also be faster.
What is involved in this method is the dentist will first cover your gum with a protective gel. He then covers your teeth with a high concentration of peroxide. He would also use a laser to speed up the chemical process. So this will produce the fastest result among all the method mentioned.
But for every method that is listed, there will surely be side effects.
First of all if you are doing teeth whitening yourself, then you might over bleach your teeth. This will cause your color shade to look unnatural.
If you have veneer, fillings or fake tooth inserted, then those will not change their color even as you bleach your teeth. Then the generic mouth guard that comes with the cheap whitening kit might not fit your mouth, causing the bleach to spill into your mouth.
Another side effect we might have is tooth sensitivity. When we bleach our teeth, we risk clearing out the natural mineral that is covering the pores of our teeth. This will cause us to be more sensitive than before. The situation is worse when you already have a few set of sensitive teeth.
