Home Air Filter - How It Prevents An Asthmatic Attack

A staggering twenty million Americans suffer from asthma and many of those people also have allergies. This can make life really difficult, especially within the home. There are more allergens in the home than there are outside and that is what makes life difficult for both allergy and asthma sufferers.

Tobacco smoke is a leading cause of asthma attacks, followed closely by pet dander and dust. There can be over a million dust mites on one little speck of dust and allergy sufferers breathe them in all the time. Luckily, there is a way to reduce the risk of asthma and allergy attacks within the home and it comes in the form of home air filters.

All about Home Air Filters

Home air filters are designed to filter the air within our homes. Tobacco, animal dander and dust all get filtered out into the special HEPA filters. This helps to keep the air clean and fresh, hence reducing the risk of an asthma or allergy attack.

You do have to be careful which home air filters you actually buy however, as there are quite a few different ones on the market these days and not all of them have a HEPA filter. The HEPA filter is the best one to go for as it filters all the allergens found in the air. Other filters aren't as good yet they can still cost the same amount of money. You can find the filters in pharmacies, department stores and even on television. However, if you want a large variety to choose from, shopping online would be the best option.

Factors to Consider Before Buying A Home Air Filter

Bear in mind that home air filters do not filter the air throughout the whole house - they will only filter the air in the room they are put in. However, you can get air filtration systems that are designed to filter the air throughout the whole house. They are a lot more expensive, though, and you should expect to pay around $15,000. Quite a lot of money and even more if it needs replacing! The electric rates are also quite expensive. So, if you want something that filters your home but won't break the bank, home air filters are by far the best options!

Home air filters cost anywhere from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars, depending upon where you get them from. Different filters have different features, but again, remember that a HEPA filter is the one you should be looking for. The HEPA filters cut out 99.07% of all allergens in the air.

Also, you should always make sure that the model you choose has replacement filters readily available. All filters need to be changed every so often and it won't be any good whatsoever if you cannot find any replacement filters. The size of the room you are putting the filter in should also be a consideration before purchasing one. There is no point at all in putting a small filter into a large room as it simply will not be able to do its job properly! Home air filters come in all different shapes and sizes, so do make sure you choose one that is right for your home!

Finally, when shopping for home air filters it is essential to check that they have been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A really good filter will also be approved by the American Lung Association. If you talk to a professional within the store you are intending to buy the filter from, they should be able to instruct you as to which ones are the best and what you should be looking for.

Overall, people who suffer from allergy and asthma attacks will really appreciate home air filters. Having an asthma attack is one of the scariest things in the world for an asthma sufferer. It really does feel like they cannot breathe and like they are going to die. A home air filter can stop that and help them to breathe easy all the time. What better gift could you give to someone that you love?

Summary:

Over twenty million Americans suffer from allergies and asthma. More allergens can be found in the home than outside and, luckily, there is a way to help cut down the risks of asthma attacks within the home. Home air filters have been proven to drastically reduce the risk of asthma attacks and they really can help you to breathe easy again!
