Want Beautiful Skin? Skincare Through The Ages

As your body ages, your skin loses its elasticity and becomes dry; for women, this is particularly apparent when menopause sets in. You can avoid such signs of premature aging of your skin through healthy eating, exercise and natural therapies.

Healthy Foods:

There is no age limit to adopt a healthier lifestyle - whatever your age, eating nutritious food will help your skin. According to allwomenstalk.com, there are 9 foods you should eat regularly:

Low Fat Yogurt: Full of vitamin A and referred to as an 'internal antiseptic,' helps your body eliminate toxins from within.

Strawberries and Blackberries: Full of antioxidants, prevent damage to the cells in your body.

Salmon: Rich in fatty acids like Omega 3, helps your skin maintain its moisture.

Green Tea: Contains 'polyphenols,' act as an anti-inflammatory agent.

Water: Not only hydrates your body, but aids in flushing away all the toxins.

Avocados: Rich in vitamin B-complex and essential oils, are said to soothe irritated skin.

Mangoes: Delicious and rich in vitamin A, ensure that your skin does not look flaky.

Almonds: Moisturize and protect your skin from damage caused by sun exposure.

Cottage Cheese: Contains selenium which is an essential mineral to keep your skin glowing.

Exercise Today:

Many overweight people undertake high-impact and strenuous exercise regimes hoping for immediate weight-loss. While the weight does come off, more damage is done to these people's cartilage and they risk suffering from osteoarthritis. In addition, because the weight loss has been sudden, they end up looking haggard. Therefore, you should concentrate on low-impact activities such as swimming and yoga, instead - they help you lose weight and tone your muscles at the same time.

Here are three specific exercises to help strengthen your facial muscles:

Palming. Rub your hands together to create warmth. Then, close your eyes with the palm of your hands and stay like this for thirty seconds. Your fingertips should reach your hairline. Feel the heat penetrate your skin. Repeat this exercise five times.·

Forward elbow clasp: Keep your feet firmly on the ground. Bend forward from your waist until you are looking at the wall behind you. Grasp each elbow with the opposite hand. Make sure that there is no tension in your neck and relax by taking ten deep breaths. Repeat this exercise five times.

Lion pose: Begin by inhaling deeply. When you exhale, do so with force and do it loudly. Imagine that you are roaring like a lion. Repeat this exercise five times.

Natural therapies:

Again, there is no age limit to following the natural remedies listed below (the first option targets the face while the second one is meant for the whole body):

Extract about one tablespoonful of pulp of aloe vera and place it in a bowl. Add three tablespoonfuls of milk and one tablespoonful of honey. Apply this mixture to your skin using a spatula. Leave for 15 minutes. Then, wash your face with cold water.

Once a week, massage liberal amounts of sesame seed oil into your skin and leave for 30 minutes. This is Ayurvedic ritual is undertaken to cool down the body and revitalize the skin. Your skin is the most visible part of your body. Even if you make little effort to care for it, the rewards are visible within a short period. It, therefore, pays to look after the largest organ in your body and enjoy the benefits of healthy, glowing, beautiful skin at every age.
