At all hours of the night, it is dreadful to face sounds. Reflecting sound are the smooth and hard surfaces. Soft and porous (such as hardwood)are the surfaces that absorb sound. Cork paneling, thick carpet, and textured wall coverings are other materials that help to dampen sound.
Soundproofing a Ceiling wall
With acoustical tile is one of the best ways to soundproof a ceiling. Always place on a firm, smooth ceiling, when installing acoustical tiles. At right angles, you can either nail furring strips to the joists, and you can install directly with an adhesive or then place the tiles to the strips by stapling them.
Soundproofing Walls
To add what is known as a staggered-stud wall is a very effective way to soundproof walls. Adding a new row of studs that are off center with the original studs, this can be done by taking the old walls down to the studs. Directly in front of the old studs, you will want to put the new studs, and between the originals, they have them lined up midway. You will get vibration so beware not to let the top plate or bottom sole plate touch the original plates. Between the two, place insulation, and finish with sheet rock or new plasterboard.
By adding a new layer of sheet rock to the original plasterboard, you can also make your walls thicker. To remove all of the moldings and baseboards, you will need. Following the stud lines, place adhesive. Place a nail along the edges of the stud, with each new piece of sheet rock. Adding insulation into furring strips is a good idea, if you want to soundproof even more.
In sound proofing, there are many different materials used. Readily available and fairly affordable are some of these materials. Usually expensive, others are proprietary and have "hidden" specifications and/or design characteristics. Beware, coming with the most outrageous claims, it is often the expensive proprietary materials. If you know what you are doing, in reality it is possible to achieve good soundproofing with readily available and inexpensive materials.
On soundproofing, it is very difficult to put a budget. Like where you will be purchasing your materials from, how much material you will need, the sort of surface that you be working on and so forth, there are a lot of variables.
