Houseboating is a Sport

Houseboating is a sport which many people enjoy. Some may say that this is a fantasy and not a sport; but that is not the case if you have ever been around a group of houseboaters on a sunny afternoon. On any given day, you can find these houseboaters grilling out, lounging out, or just simply resting by the water. It appears that no where is it better to forget about your cares and troubles than on your houseboat.

Lets consider these boats for a second. These are not your mom and dad's houseboats made of copper and tin and other fly by night material. These houseboats are the most luxurious around. They come in all shapes and sizes from as small as 10 feet wide to 21 feet wide and from 35 feet long to 120 feet long or larger. Can you imagine walking on board a 20x120 foot houseboat and entering into a world of wonder? Some of these boats are so luxurious that they actually have marble countertops in the kitchen and golden sinks in the baths.

Don't worry if you didn't bring enough towels, just pop them in the washer/dryer and you are ready to go. Luxurious leather sofas and recliners are often seen and it is not unusual to have more than one refrigerator. Bedrooms can be plentiful on these types of boats and don't be surprised if you find more than one TV! All the comforts of home and you would never know that you were sitting in the water unless you peer outside the large tinted windows.

Climb upstairs and you will find another floor of fun and frolick. Lounge chairs for sunning, bar stools for sitting, and tables for eating are just a few of the items found up here. There is no lack of seating aboard these boats. Hot tubs are plentiful and the guests have no complaints.

The engine starts and the huge machine begins to back out of the slip and t urn toward the harbor. You barely feel the water moving underneath this massive hull.

When night falls, the fun doesn't stop. The Captain turns on the lights and the partying continues. As the evening wears down, the Captain finds a place to park. The guests and crew find their rooms to wait with anticipation for another fun-filled time tomorrow.
