Tourism places near Delhi towards north

One of the most famous hill station in India is "Shimla" also called as "Simla", derives its name from "Goddess Shyamala" which is located in the north - western ranges of the Himalayas. Shimla was the summer capital of India after independence it became capital of Punjab and later named as the capital of Himachal Pradesh and often referred to as "Queen of Hills". Shimla is at a distance of 340 km from Delhi, the capital city of India reaching via Panipat, Karnal, Ambala, Chandigarh and Panchkula. Shimla is famous for its natural beauty, wooden crafts, and Apples.

For a pre-planned trip rent a cab to Shimla from Delhi, this is a photographer's paradise and is also famous for tourists' attraction. Shimla has many places of interests like The Mall is the main shopping street of Shimla, Jakhu Hill which is the highest peak and offers a beautiful view of town, Shimla State Museum, where is collection of miniature Pahari Paintings, Sculptures, textiles and Jewellary of the region, Summer Hill. Ambala is a place which is at a distance of 217 km from Delhi. It is situated in the state of Haryana and has been divided in to two parts Ambala Cantt(Contonment) and Ambala city. Ambala is also known as "city of Scientific Instruments" and is popular for Army Contonment. There are many views like, it was founded by Amba Rajput, the other says it is named after Goddess Bhawani Amba. Hire a taxi from Delhi to Ambala to visit all the tourists places like Bhawani Ambala temple, Kali Mata Mandir, Gurudwaras, Radha Krishna Mandir, Ambika Devi Mandir and is also having two famous parks, Patel Park in Ambala Cantt and City Park in Ambala city.

There is one more city which is known for its beautiful gardens in between Ambala and Shimla is Chandigarh, a name derived from an ancient temple called "Chandi Mandir", which serves as the capital city of twin states of Punjab and Haryana and also reffered to as "The City Beautiful".

It is at a distance of 43 km from Ambala. Hire a Taxi from Delhi to Chandigarh covering approximately 270 km to visit Chandigarh. There are a lot of places in and around Chandigarh few of which are Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake situated in the foot hills of Shivalik Range, Museum and Art Gallery famous for collection of Buddhist Sculpture and number of miniature paintings, Leisure Valley.
